Frequently Asked Questions
Your Questions, Answered
What is Reiki?
Reiki (霊気, /ˈreɪki/) is a Japanese form of energy healing, which is a subset of alternative medicine. Reiki practitioners use a technique called palm healing or hands-on healing through which a "universal energy" is said to be transferred through the palms of the practitioner to the patient in order to encourage emotional or physical healing.
How should I prepare for my first treatment?
Relax. Drink plenty of water and wear comfortable clothing.
What should I expect from my first session?
During a session, a Reiki practitioner will gently move their hands above or on the client's clothed body in a series of hand positions. Each hand position is held for around 3 to 10 minutes, or depending on the client's needs, and typically focus on around the head and shoulders and stomach.
